Plan a longer stayAbout the week
Backcountry Riders
A week in Henningsvær for experienced ski tourers who want to explore Lofoten with good partners and thoughtful plans. From February 8–14, 2027, the lodge is a shared base for condition-dependent days in the mountains, route conversations with Skida, sauna sessions, shared meals, and time to work or rest between tours.
February's returning light
February brings the sun back to Lofoten after polar night. Snow-covered peaks rise directly from the sea, but the weather, snowpack, wind, visibility, and avalanche picture decide what is sensible each day. The objective is never fixed in advance: a shorter tour, a conservative alternative, or a day at the lodge can be the right plan.
Plan the day with Skida
Skida brings route suggestions, 3D terrain, slope-angle and avalanche-terrain layers, official avalanche forecasts, mountain weather, community observations, and offline maps into one planning workflow. Use it to compare possibilities and build plan B and C together. Skida supports planning; competence, field observations, and decisions remain with every skier and group.
How the week works
Like every Arctic Coliving theme week, this one is intentionally DIY. Gather in the evening or morning to compare forecasts, discuss terrain, and find compatible partners. Tour when conditions and experience line up; choose a mellow alternative, cowork, explore Henningsvær, or take a rest day when they do not. There is no fixed itinerary and every outing is optional.
What to bring
- Your own ski-touring or splitboard setup, skins, boots, and poles
- Avalanche transceiver, shovel, and probe—and the training to use them
- Helmet, winter layers, food, water, and equipment for Arctic conditions
- Travel and rescue insurance that covers your planned backcountry activities
- The Skida app with relevant routes and maps downloaded for offline use
Experience and guiding
This is a community stay, not a guided ski package or avalanche course. It is intended for backcountry travelers who can assess their own readiness and participate responsibly in group decisions. Planning together does not replace the avalanche forecast, ongoing terrain and snow observations, or professional judgment. Arrange a qualified local guide separately when your experience or objectives call for one; guiding is subject to availability and costs extra.
Back at the lodge
Return to the Lofoten Pier Lodge in Henningsvær to warm up in the private sauna, cook together, compare tracks and observations, and talk through tomorrow's options. The point is as much the crew and the shared learning as any single summit.
Pricing
Stay from 4250kr for five nights in a shared room, based on the regular rate of 850kr per night. Book any part of the February 8–14, 2027 theme week. Other room types and longer stays follow the lodge's regular pricing; travel, equipment, food, and professional guiding are separate.
This theme week is participant-led and condition-dependent; it not a guided ski package or avalanche course. Guests must arrange their own equipment and qualified local guiding separately if desired.
About Theme Weeks
Theme Weeks are Arctic Coliving stays with a focus. Each run gathers a small group around one craft, be it photography, backcountry touring, knitting, whatever the season calls for. Days focused on your passion together with your peers. The best part? Visiting during a Theme Week costs the same as a normal stay, with some weeks offering additional experiences or programming through our friends and paid directly to them – no cost markup from us.
To RSVP, create an account and book your theme week/dates. Want to join for more than the week? Extend your stay on either side of a Theme Week – arrive early or linger after the group wraps up, and keep shooting, riding, or simply enjoying your time in the mountains.
